| MINIMUM BALANCE |
the minimum balance required to open the account and to be maintained in order to earn the chosen interest rate on that account (you can choose either annual interest or monthly interest). Balances that fall below the minimum balance specified will earn the Basic Savings Rate.

| MONTHLY INTEREST | monthly interest is usually paid on the last working day of each month and is 0.25% lower than the annual interest rate. Further details are included in your product leaflet, on the product specific pages of the website or by calling the Customer Service helpline. | ||||||||||||||||
| NET INTEREST | this is the interest payable on an account after the deduction of DIRT. | ||||||||||||||||
| NOMINATED BANK ACCOUNT | the bank account nominated by you for receipt of transfers from your Northern Rock account. This must be a bank account in the same last name as the account held with Northern Rock. For joint accounts the nominated bank account can be in the last name of one of the account holders. | ||||||||||||||||
| ONE TIME PASSWORD (Online accounts only) | a temporary password which can be issued to an online account holder to enable them to unlock their online account. | ||||||||||||||||
| PASSWORD CHARACTERS (Online accounts only) | the numbers or letters from your personal password used to log into your Online account. | ||||||||||||||||
| PENDING REQUEST (Online accounts only) | a request (such as a withdrawal or change of address) submitted by you which is awaiting completion by Northern Rock Ireland. | ||||||||||||||||
| PPS NUMBER (Personal Public Service Number) | this is a unique identifier for use in any transactions with public bodies or persons authorised by those bodies to act on their behalf. | ||||||||||||||||
| TRN (Tax Reference Number) | this is a reference number issued by the Revenue Commissioners that uniquely identifies a company. |
